Success Secrets

There are lots of successful people in the world.  Some of them are pretty famous, notable people.  But a lot of them are regular, everyday folk that you see and interact with on a daily basis. People wanting to achieve their same level of greatness are often asking them the secrets to their success. They figure that all one needs to do is to find out what other people do, do those same things, and BINGO, they will also get the same results.

How to be successful: that’s a hot topic.  So much so, that many books are written on the topic.  Some of the popular books are The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey,  The Success Principles, by Jack Canfield and Janet Switzer, or You Can If You Think You Can, by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. But there also are dozens of other books on the subject, many of which are decades old. Americans collectively spend millions of dollars a year on books and conferences and seminars trying to be successful: successful at work, successful in their communities, and successful in their families. People obviously feel they need some guidance to help them embrace greater levels of achievement.

But do not be misled. If being successful was as simple as reading these books and applying the principles that others claim worked for them, then everyone should always achieve their goals. But that’s not the case. These and many other success principles may have worked for someone else, but the real, true secrets to people’s success are innate, internal traits – something within.  It’s not something you can merely explain to someone else for them to follow like steps in a lasagna recipe.

If you are one of those people seeking some guidance for your own success, look inside yourself and develop your own. Of course there’s nothing wrong with looking at someone else and patterning yourself after them, identifying some of the general things they have done that worked.  But carving out your own niche and creating your own plan of action that is specific to you and your own life and your own situation is the best way to achieve your goals and be successful.
