Lax Airport Security: Mineta San Jose International Airport

Lax Airport Security: Mineta San Jose International Airport

A sixteen-year old boy stowed away on a plane from San Jose to Honolulu. That he did it isn’t what bothers me so immensely.  The thing that bothers me the most is that he wasn’t discovered until he arrived in Honolulu when his presence on the tarmac there caused a security scare.  After he was questioned by authorities, he reported that he hid inside a plane’s wheel well.  Police reviewed security tapes at San Jose Airport and saw that the lad had in fact jumped a fence and found his way to the plane.

I now wonder what kind of security they have at the San Jose Airport. Do they have people who actually monitor the security video feeds in real time, or are the videos just used to investigate incidents after-the-fact? This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. All we need is for some martyr/suicide bomber to hide in wheel well and detonate an explosive device. Airports need to quickly fix these security flaws.  Fortunately this matter ended without incident. We don’t want there to be a next time.
